About CEU's : This workshop will consist of 10 contact hours, which meets the requirements for RYTs for CEU’s every three years.
What you will learn: I will teach you about the various health conditions you will see in classes for adults and how to deal with them. Many of these conditions we see as people age and sometimes you see them in younger adults as well. We will discuss the top things you need to know to keep people safe and comfortable. You will be given appropriate breathing techniques, postures and meditation techniques. Modifications will be given. Each day will consist of a gentle class, one mat class with chairs available (Saturday) and one chair only class (Sunday). The course will have heavy emphasis on the role of the nervous system and prevention and recovery from disease & dis-ease. Topics *Autonomic Nervous system *Stress related illnesses *Glaucoma *Common joint issues (back, neck, hips) *Concerns around Trauma *Diabetes *Cardiovascular health *Cancer *Autoimmune disease *Ask me anything time for Q and A I will share with you medical research and common reliable references for when you are looking for safe interventions. I will send each participant a sheet with videos to watch to support what you learn in class for future reference. Feel free to bring your questions. Due to only having ten hours please note that we will discuss each issue and go into some detail but these are not deep dives into yoga therapy. It’s will be a practical understanding & appropriate application. *If you have my book “The Mud & The Lotus: A Guide and Workbook for Students of Yoga” I would recommend bringing it with you for a reference. If not you can take notes. I’ll be happy to sign either of my books if you have one and I will have a few available for sale if you would like one.
Meals & Snacks: I will have tea, water, nuts and and a few snacks available. I recommend packing your lunch and eating in Saturday. Hot Springs is busy and it's often hard to find a quick place to eat downtown. Also it may be nice to bring snacks for yourself or to share. There is a beautiful park right at our location. There are several healthy restaurants near by and I can give you information on those when you visit.
